Selangor Unveils Five Strategic Resolutions to Support Women Entrepreneurs Amid Global Supply Disruptions
SHAH ALAM, April 30 — The Selangor state government has outlined five key resolutions aimed at strengthening the resilience of nearly 46,000 women entrepreneurs facing challenges from global supply chain disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
State executive councillor for women’s development and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the measures were formulated following a roundtable discussion focused on assessing the crisis’ impact on women-led businesses and identifying sustainable economic empowerment strategies.
The session, organised by Wanita Berdaya Selangor, brought together policymakers, industry players, and entrepreneurs to evaluate current challenges and explore actionable solutions.
“This roundtable provided a strategic platform to examine key issues affecting the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including rising operational costs, supply chain disruptions, and pressures on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) led by women,” she said.
Among the core resolutions is the integration of the entrepreneurial ecosystem through a centralised digital portal, designed to streamline access to funding, information, and market opportunities. This initiative aims to bridge information gaps and improve the efficiency of support systems available to women entrepreneurs.
The state is also prioritising workplace transformation by promoting family-friendly practices, recognising the need to balance business responsibilities with personal and caregiving roles — a challenge often faced by women entrepreneurs.
Digital transformation remains a central pillar, with emphasis on adopting advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance business adaptability and competitiveness in an increasingly volatile global market.
Another key focus is the implementation of rapid needs assessments to better understand real-time challenges, alongside a gradual shift from subsidy-driven economic models towards more sustainable and resilient frameworks.
Anfaal highlighted that structural barriers continue to hinder women entrepreneurs, including limited access to growth financing, entry into high-value markets, digital capability gaps, and challenges in scaling businesses.
To address these issues, she stressed the importance of cross-agency collaboration involving government bodies, private sector stakeholders, and support organisations to strengthen financing, capacity building, innovation, and digital empowerment.
“Stronger collaboration is essential to ensure that women’s economic participation remains sustainable and competitive,” she said.
The insights and proposals gathered from the discussion will serve as a foundation for shaping more inclusive, gender-responsive policies that can deliver meaningful impact.
The initiative reflects Selangor’s broader commitment to reinforcing women entrepreneurship as a key driver of inclusive economic growth, particularly in navigating an increasingly complex and uncertain global environment.
