
Wani Kayrie secures long-awaited AJL40 final spot alongside 10 finalists
SHAH ALAM, April 18 — Malaysian singer Wani Kayrie has finally earned a place in the grand final of Anugerah Juara Lagu ke-40 (AJL40), marking a major breakthrough after 11 years in the industry.
Her qualification came through the track Cak Cak Cekuk, composed by Karim Karam, Shane Kennedy and Iqie Hugh.
Milestone achievement after a decade
The achievement represents a defining moment in Wani’s career, highlighting her persistence and growth in Malaysia’s competitive music scene.
Established names and newcomers in the mix
Defending AJL39 winner Marsha Milan also secured a spot with Tangisan Seorang Pendosa, a song she co-created with lyrics by Hazama.
Meanwhile, K.O.I achieved a milestone of their own by reaching the final for the first time with Tiwikarma.
Diverse lineup of finalists
Other finalists include Aina Abdul (Kamu), Amir Masdi (Nurcinta), and Haqiem Rusli (Nostalgila).
The final lineup is completed by Lemah (Dayang Nurfaizah), Lumangad Oku Dika (Reynald Guntabid), Tak Adil (Aisha Retno), Ke Mana Ni (Kmy Kmo & Luca Sickta), and Semacam Pandora by Hazama.
Tough semi-final competition
The finalists were selected from 20 competing songs performed across two semi-final nights held on April 17 and 18 at Studio 1, Glenmarie.
Several strong contenders, including Shila Amzah and Imran Ajmain, did not make the final cut despite intense competition.
Grand final set for August
The judging panel, led by Datuk Acis, will return for the grand final scheduled at Unifi Stadium Bukit Jalil in August.
With a mix of established stars and rising talents, AJL40 is expected to deliver a highly competitive and memorable showdown.
