Three Arrested After 135km Police Chase from Selangor to Melaka, Drugs Seized

ALOR GAJAH, May 1 — Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested following a 135-kilometre police chase from Selangor to Melaka, which led to the discovery of suspected heroin and methamphetamine.

Alor Gajah district police chief Ahmad Abu Bakar said the incident began at around 8 pm when a patrol team from the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department of Serdang District Police Headquarters attempted to stop a suspicious black Honda City for inspection.

However, the driver refused to comply and sped off, prompting a high-speed pursuit that extended across state lines into Melaka.

The chase ended at the Sungai Petai traffic light junction when the suspect’s vehicle lost control and collided with an Isuzu D-Max driven by a local man.

“Further inspection revealed three occupants in the vehicle — two local men aged 23 and 43, and a 41-year-old woman who was believed to be driving,” he said in a statement.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two transparent plastic packets containing substances suspected to be illegal drugs.

One packet contained a substance believed to be heroin weighing 2.16 grammes, while the other contained a substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing 0.65 grammes.

Background checks revealed that the suspects had prior criminal records.

One of the male suspects has 24 records related to criminal and drug offences, while the other has eight criminal records. The woman has two previous drug-related offences.

Initial urine screening tests showed that two of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, while the third tested positive for morphine.

All three suspects have been remanded for four days until May 3 to assist in investigations under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Police have urged the public to comply with law enforcement instructions and to avoid involvement in criminal activities that could endanger public safety
