RoboUP Rolls Out Raccoon 2 SE, Affordable Robotic Mower Tailored for Compact Home Gardens

SHENZHEN – Smart gardening technology company RoboUP has officially introduced the Raccoon 2 SE, a new robotic lawn mower designed to bring automated grass-cutting within reach of homeowners with small to medium-sized gardens.

Now available through the company’s online platforms in Europe and the United States, the model is being positioned as a cost-effective alternative to premium robotic mowers, offering advanced features at a price point below €500. Customers who place pre-orders between February 1 and March 17 will also receive priority delivery and an accessory gift pack worth €148.

Making Automated Lawn Care More Accessible

RoboUP said the Raccoon 2 SE was developed in response to growing demand from homeowners who want reliable lawn maintenance without the high costs and technical complexity often associated with smart garden equipment.

Unlike high-end models built for large estates and commercial landscapes, the Raccoon 2 SE focuses on compact residential environments such as terrace houses, townhouses, and small villas. Its size and design allow it to operate efficiently in limited spaces where manoeuvrability is crucial.

By lowering the entry price for robotic mowing technology, the company hopes to encourage more households to adopt automated lawn care as part of their daily routine.

Built for Tight and Irregular Layouts

Despite its compact form, the Raccoon 2 SE is engineered to handle a wide range of garden conditions. The mower can navigate narrow passages, move smoothly over uneven surfaces, and climb slopes of up to 36 per cent.

It is also capable of crossing small steps measuring up to four centimetres, making it suitable for gardens with slight level differences and multi-section layouts. Support for up to three mowing zones allows users to manage different areas of their lawn more efficiently.

These features are intended to address common challenges faced by owners of small but complex outdoor spaces.

Advanced Technology at a Lower Cost

RoboUP emphasised that affordability does not come at the expense of performance. The Raccoon 2 SE is equipped with parallel mowing technology that produces cleaner, more consistent cutting patterns, giving lawns a professionally maintained appearance.

Its dual-sensor obstacle detection system helps prevent collisions with furniture, plants, and other objects, improving safety and reducing the risk of damage. Intelligent navigation software further enhances coverage, ensuring that no section of the lawn is overlooked.

In terms of power management, the mower offers fast charging, reaching full capacity in approximately 70 minutes. Once charged, it can operate for up to 150 minutes, providing sufficient runtime for gardens measuring up to 600 square metres.

Simple Setup for Everyday Users

Ease of use remains a central focus of the Raccoon 2 SE. The mower features a one-button start system that enables automatic lawn mapping and immediate operation, eliminating the need for complicated installation procedures.

RoboUP said the simplified setup makes the product suitable for first-time users and those with limited technical experience, reinforcing its appeal as a practical household appliance rather than a specialist gadget.

Tested and Refined by Early Users

Before its commercial release, the Raccoon 2 SE was introduced through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in late 2025. The project attracted more than 600 backers, reflecting strong early interest in the product.

The prototype units were also tested by over 20 professional media outlets and more than 80 beta users. Feedback from these groups contributed to improvements in navigation accuracy, battery performance, and overall reliability.

According to the company, this extensive testing phase helped ensure that the final product meets real-world expectations.

Company Perspective

Louis, chief executive officer of RoboUP, said many homeowners have been reluctant to invest in robotic mowers due to concerns over cost and complexity.

“Our goal with the Raccoon 2 SE was to remove those barriers,” he said. “We wanted to create a solution that is affordable, easy to use, and capable of delivering consistent results.”

He added that the product reflects RoboUP’s long-term strategy to expand smart home and garden technologies for everyday consumers, particularly in urban and suburban communities.

Growing Market for Smart Gardening Solutions

Industry observers note that demand for automated gardening tools has been rising in recent years, driven by busy lifestyles, ageing populations, and increasing interest in smart home ecosystems.

With its combination of competitive pricing, practical features, and user-friendly design, the Raccoon 2 SE is expected to strengthen RoboUP’s position in the entry-level robotic mower segment.

The company believes the model could serve as a gateway product for homeowners seeking to explore smart gardening solutions without making a significant financial commitment.
