Kelantan Government Content with Assemblymen’s Performance, Views Assessments as Constructive
Kota Bharu — The Kelantan state administration has expressed overall satisfaction with the performance of its state assembly representatives, noting that they have continued to serve their constituencies effectively following the last state election.
Deputy Menteri Besar Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said lawmakers from Parti Islam Se-Malaysia and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia have largely met expectations in delivering services to the public.
He described the recent evaluation carried out by the Dewan Ulama PAS Kelantan as a positive and necessary process, adding that it provides useful insights for improving performance.
Fadzli stressed that such assessments should not be viewed negatively but rather as guidance to help representatives strengthen their service and engagement with the community.
He explained that performance is measured based on several key aspects, including how accessible representatives are to the public, their presence within constituencies, and the overall quality of services provided.
Although each assemblyman represents a political party, he noted that they remain accountable to the state government and are required to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set at both party and administrative levels.
“Regular monitoring and evaluation — whether on an annual basis or throughout the term — are essential to maintaining and improving service standards,” he said.
Fadzli added that these performance reviews are also taken into consideration when determining eligibility for future election candidacy.
He noted that within PAS, the process of selecting candidates involves multiple factors, with public service performance playing a central role.
Earlier, the Dewan Ulama PAS Kelantan acknowledged that some representatives had shown areas for improvement, although specific details were not disclosed. The body continues to monitor performance as part of efforts to maintain stability and effectiveness in governance.
