Kelana Jaya Line Hit by Disruption After Passenger Incident at Abdullah Hukum Station

KUALA LUMPUR — Commuters on the Kelana Jaya Line faced major disruptions this evening after a passenger incident at Abdullah Hukum LRT Station triggered an emergency shutdown during peak hours.

Rail operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the incident occurred at about 6.09pm, prompting immediate safety measures, including cutting power at the station to facilitate rescue efforts.

Emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and medical teams, were quickly deployed to the scene.

An emergency call was received at 6.19pm reporting a trapped individual, leading to the dispatch of a rescue unit from the Pantai Fire and Rescue Station.

Upon arrival at 6.24pm, rescuers discovered a 39-year-old woman who had fallen onto the tracks and become pinned beneath a train, according to operations commander Wan Mohd Shahrir Azizi Wan Said.

The victim suffered injuries to her arms and face and was successfully freed at 6.38pm before being taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for further treatment.

Initial findings suggest the incident may have been caused by a slip that led to the fall onto the tracks.

The disruption resulted in the temporary suspension of services between Universiti, Kerinchi, and Abdullah Hukum stations, affecting large numbers of commuters during the evening rush.

To mitigate the impact, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd deployed free shuttle bus services to assist passengers.

Commuters were advised to seek help from station staff or auxiliary police, while updates were shared through Rapid KL announcements and official social media platforms.

The operator confirmed it is cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
