.Feast Closes a Defining Chapter With Emotional Kuala Lumpur Finale

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian alternative rock powerhouse .Feast officially brought its acclaimed Membangun & Menghancurkan era to a close with an emotional two-night finale at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, ending one of the most significant chapters in the band’s history.

The performances, held on June 5 and 6, attracted passionate fans from across the region and transformed the venue into a celebration of resilience, reinvention and artistic survival.

For many attendees, the concerts represented far more than a standard album showcase. They served as the culmination of a journey that nearly ended before the band reached its current level of success.

Formed in 2012, .Feast built its reputation through hard-hitting alternative rock music combined with sharp social commentary, addressing issues ranging from corruption and inequality to political frustration and generational anxiety.

The group, led by vocalist Baskara Putra, alongside guitarists Adnan Satyanugraha Putra and Dicky Renanda Putra, as well as bassist Fadli Fikriawan Wibowo, has become one of Indonesia’s most influential modern rock acts.

Their third studio album, Membangun & Menghancurkan, released in 2024, achieved both critical and commercial success, earning millions of streams and winning Best Rock Album at the Anugerah Musik Indonesia 2025.

Yet behind the album’s success lies a story few fans knew.

Before the record was completed, the band members seriously considered ending the project and disbanding altogether due to deteriorating chemistry and creative fatigue.

Rather than walking away, they chose to rebuild the album from the ground up, discarding most of the original material and starting over with a renewed vision.

That decision ultimately revived not only the album but also the band itself.

The project draws inspiration from the ancient concept of Ouroboros, symbolising the endless cycle of destruction and creation.

For .Feast, the symbolism became deeply personal, reflecting their willingness to abandon old habits and identities in order to move forward.

The Kuala Lumpur finale featured a complete performance of the album while also incorporating fan favourites from earlier releases.

Songs such as Politrik, Metakritik, Konsekuens, Sectumsempra, Berita Kehilangan and ALI generated enthusiastic crowd responses, with fans singing along to nearly every lyric.

Among the standout moments was the inclusion of a live marching band during Gugatan Rakyat Semesta, transforming the track into a powerful anthem that resonated throughout the venue.

Traditional dancers later joined the performance during Tarian Penghancur Raya, adding visual depth to a song that critiques environmental destruction, unchecked urban development and political greed.

The show also featured several heartfelt moments that highlighted the strong bond between the band and its fanbase.

One particularly emotional segment saw the group dedicate time to support a fan undergoing cancer treatment, prompting a wave of encouragement from the audience.

As the final notes of Tarot echoed through the venue, band members, crew, dancers and supporting performers gathered on stage for a moving farewell.

Tears, embraces and prolonged applause marked the end of a concert series that celebrated not only an album but also a remarkable story of perseverance.

With appearances already scheduled at several major Indonesian music festivals later this year, .Feast may have closed the Membangun & Menghancurkan chapter, but the band’s next chapter appears to be just beginning.
