Faekah Says Rafizi Appears to Be Experiencing Political Fallout Similar to Khalid Ibrahim Episode

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 — Former political secretary to the late Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, Faekah Husin, has suggested that Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s current situation mirrors the challenges once faced by the former Selangor menteri besar during a key political episode more than a decade ago.

In a social media post, Faekah described the development as a form of political consequence linked to Rafizi’s involvement in the 2014 “Kajang Move,” a strategy that ultimately led to Khalid’s removal from office.

She said that although Rafizi has not publicly admitted any wrongdoing related to that episode, recent developments appear to reflect a similar experience of being sidelined within the party.

“The situation today seems to echo what Khalid went through when he was pushed aside,” she said.

Kajang Move Revisited as Controversial Turning Point

Faekah characterised the Kajang Move as a controversial chapter that raised serious questions about the principles of fairness and justice within the party.

She argued that the strategy could not have been executed without the backing of top leadership, describing it as a calculated political manoeuvre rather than an isolated incident.

According to her, the episode remains one of the most debated moments in Selangor’s political history, with lasting implications on governance and party dynamics.

“It was not something that happened in isolation. There were clear elements of planning and support behind it,” she noted.

Claims of Internal Party Interference

Reflecting on past party developments, Faekah also raised allegations of internal interference in leadership contests, suggesting that such practices were not uncommon.

She cited the party elections in 2010, claiming that Khalid had been pressured to withdraw from a deputy presidency race to make way for another candidate.

Her remarks highlighted broader concerns about internal decision-making processes and the consistency of the party’s commitment to its founding ideals.

Rafizi’s Performance Should Be Viewed in Context

Faekah also addressed criticisms directed at Rafizi’s performance as a minister, questioning the basis for labelling him as ineffective.

She stressed that leadership performance should be evaluated within the broader context of government operations rather than focusing solely on individual outcomes.

Policy success or failure, she said, often depends on multiple factors beyond the control of a single leader.

Political Future Hinges on Next Steps

Looking ahead, Faekah said Rafizi’s political trajectory will depend largely on the decisions he makes moving forward.

She suggested that his future is not necessarily tied to his position within the party but to how he navigates the current political landscape.

“For now, it is a matter of wait and see. His next move will determine how his political journey unfolds,” she said.

Her remarks offer a critical perspective on ongoing political developments, underscoring the complexities of internal party dynamics and their broader implications for leadership and governance.
