Bersatu Suspends Five More MPs for Two Terms

Disciplinary Action Also Involves Immediate Expulsion of Two State Assemblymen

PETALING JAYA — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has suspended five more Members of Parliament for two terms with immediate effect over alleged violations of the party constitution, code of ethics and disciplinary regulations.

The MPs affected are Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Khalib Abdullah, Nordin Ahmad Ismail, Rosol Wahid and Khlir Mohd Nor.

All five are believed to be closely associated with former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.

In addition to the MPs, disciplinary suspension was also imposed on Chenderoh assemblyman Syed Lukman Hakim Syed Mohd Zain.

Meanwhile, Bersatu also announced the immediate expulsion of two state assemblymen — Dzowahir Ab Ghani and Abdul Razak Khamis — for similar reasons.

According to a letter dated May 8 issued by Bersatu disciplinary board chairman Mohd Radzi Manan, the actions were taken under Clause 22.5 of the party constitution.

The notice stated that the disciplinary measures involved breaches of party regulations and ethical conduct.

Following the suspension, all party positions held by the affected members will automatically be revoked throughout the suspension period.

They are also prohibited from issuing statements or acting on behalf of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia until the suspension period ends.

However, all individuals subjected to disciplinary action are still entitled to submit appeals to the party’s Appeals Board.

According to the notice, appeals may be submitted within 14 days from the date the suspension and dismissal letters were issued.

The latest disciplinary move is viewed as part of Bersatu’s effort to tighten internal party discipline amid ongoing political developments.

Political observers believe the decision could impact internal party dynamics, particularly relations between different leadership factions within Bersatu.
