
AutoFlight Advances eVTOL Ambitions With Three-Aircraft Formation Test and Official Certification Push
KUNSHAN, China: AutoFlight has taken another major step in the advancement of next-generation air mobility after successfully completing a coordinated demonstration flight involving three different eVTOL aircraft platforms.
The mission featured one V5000 Matrix operating alongside two V2000-series aircraft in a synchronised flight formation aimed at validating multi-aircraft coordination and system integration capabilities.
According to the company, the demonstration successfully verified several operational functions, including aircraft communication links, route planning, flight coordination and integrated safety management across both five-ton and two-ton aerial platforms.
The achievement is being viewed as a significant milestone in the development of future low-altitude logistics networks and intelligent regional air transport systems.
Cargo eVTOL Program Moves Into Certification Stage
Positioned as a flagship platform within AutoFlight’s expanding aviation portfolio, the V5000 Matrix is specifically designed for heavy-lift cargo operations, long-distance missions and high-value point-to-point deliveries.
Following a successful transition flight earlier this year, the hybrid-electric cargo variant known as the V5000CGH has now officially entered the airworthiness certification phase.
The development signals the project’s transition from research and prototype validation into a formal regulatory approval process required for future commercial deployment.
The V5000CGH features a maximum take-off weight of 5,700kg, a payload capacity of 1.5 tonnes and a 14 cubic metre cargo compartment capable of accommodating two AKE cargo containers.
The aircraft can cruise at speeds of up to 280km/h while offering a flight range of approximately 1,500km, placing it among the more advanced heavy-duty eVTOL cargo platforms currently under development globally.
Expanding Future Applications Beyond Commercial Logistics
Beyond cargo transport, the aircraft is also expected to support large-scale emergency rescue missions, offshore supply operations and inter-regional feeder logistics services.
The platform is designed to modernise conventional transport systems by enabling faster and more flexible low-altitude mobility solutions.
AutoFlight said it remains committed to maintaining a safety-first and regulation-focused approach throughout the aircraft’s development cycle.
Its airworthiness certification team includes specialists previously involved in major aviation programmes such as the ARJ21-700, C919 and Diamond DA42.
Earlier, the company’s V2000CG CarryAll secured full certification from China’s aviation authorities, while the V2000EM Prosperity continues progressing through compliance demonstration stages.
AutoFlight said it will continue accelerating testing, certification and technological development efforts to bring long-range heavy-payload eVTOL aircraft closer to large-scale commercial adoption and future sustainable air logistics infrastructure.
