Tongwei Unveils Next-Generation Solar Modules With Record 93.07% Bifaciality at Intersolar Europe 2026

KUALA LUMPUR: Tongwei has strengthened its position in the global solar technology race with the launch of two next-generation photovoltaic modules at Intersolar Europe 2026, introducing a utility-scale panel featuring a record-breaking bifaciality rate alongside an upgraded residential solution aimed at improving energy production and installation efficiency.

The launches reflect the company’s strategy of addressing two rapidly expanding segments of the renewable energy market—large-scale solar farms seeking higher electricity yields and homeowners looking for compact, high-performance rooftop systems.

Taking centre stage at the Munich exhibition was the global debut of the TNC 3.0 BIFIMAX, Tongwei’s latest flagship module designed for utility-scale projects.

Certified by TÜV Rheinland, the module achieves a bifaciality rate of up to 93.07 per cent, one of the highest levels announced for commercial solar modules, allowing significantly more electricity to be generated from sunlight reflected onto the rear side of the panel.

The new module also delivers power output of up to 770 watts with a conversion efficiency of as much as 24.8 per cent, combining higher energy production with improved operating efficiency for large solar installations.

According to Tongwei, the increased bifacial performance can generate meaningful financial returns for project owners.

Using a 100MW solar installation in Hamburg, Germany, as an example, the company estimates the technology could generate an additional €180,000 in annual revenue compared with conventional bifacial modules while producing an extra 81.62 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity throughout the project’s operating lifetime.

Beyond higher energy generation, Tongwei said the module has been engineered to maintain performance under demanding environmental conditions.

A low temperature coefficient of -0.26 per cent per degree Celsius enables the panel to retain greater efficiency during periods of high heat, while the company’s proprietary Louvred Interconnection technology improves resistance to micro-cracks by more than 100 per cent, helping protect installations exposed to heavy snow loads and strong winds.

The company also introduced an upgraded residential offering, the TNC 2.0 G12R-48, developed for homeowners seeking greater electricity generation without compromising rooftop aesthetics.

The compact module delivers up to 480 watts of output with conversion efficiency reaching 24 per cent while occupying less than two square metres, allowing installers to maximise energy production from limited roof space.

Tongwei said its proprietary 360-degree three-dimensional passivation technology also improves electricity generation during lower-light periods, extending production into the early morning and late evening when conventional panels typically become less efficient.

The residential module incorporates the same Louvred Interconnection technology found in its utility-scale counterpart, enhancing structural durability while maintaining a uniform appearance intended to complement modern residential architecture.

As demand for solar energy continues to accelerate in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia, advances in module efficiency and durability are expected to play an increasingly important role in helping utilities, businesses and homeowners maximise renewable energy production while improving the long-term economics of solar investments.
