
Police Arrest 67 in Raids on 13 Illegal Gambling Dens Across Selangor and Sabah
Coordinated operation targets multiple locations
KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested 67 individuals during coordinated raids on 13 premises suspected of operating illegal gambling activities across Selangor and Sabah.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar of Polis Diraja Malaysia said the arrests involved 52 men and 15 women aged between 20 and 75.
Of those detained, 24 were identified as caretakers managing the gambling premises.
Seizure of electronic equipment and cash
The operation covered eight premises in Seri Kembangan and North Klang, Selangor, and five locations in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Sandakan, Sabah.
Police seized a wide range of electronic equipment believed to be used for gambling activities, including televisions, tablets, laptops, gaming consoles, simulator machines and computers.
Cash amounting to RM16,553 was also confiscated during the raids.
Authorities believe the seized items will play a key role in ongoing investigations.
Foreign nationals among those detained
Police confirmed that 26 of the suspects are foreign nationals from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Myanmar.
They have been handed over to the respective district police headquarters for further action, including investigation under immigration laws.
Investigations underway under multiple laws
All suspects are being investigated under provisions of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Police reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal gambling activities, which pose social risks and undermine public order.
