Government Pledges Transparent, Ongoing Updates on Energy Crisis, Says Fadillah

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian government has reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the public consistently informed with transparent and up-to-date information on the evolving global energy crisis.

Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof said clear communication is essential to ensure that the public understands the situation accurately, without unnecessary anxiety caused by speculation or misinformation.

He stressed that Malaysians have the right to be informed about the government’s ongoing efforts, particularly measures aimed at maintaining stable and sufficient energy supply nationwide.

“The government will continue to communicate openly and responsibly, ensuring that the information shared is accurate while avoiding undue concern among the public,” he said during a briefing on the global energy situation.

Managing Price Pressures Through Strategic Measures

Amid rising global uncertainties, the government is also focusing on addressing the impact of energy price fluctuations, which could affect the cost of living for households and businesses.

Fadillah noted that authorities are working closely with industry stakeholders to manage price pressures and develop balanced policies that protect consumers while supporting economic stability.

He emphasised that all measures are carefully designed to safeguard long-term national interests while cushioning the immediate impact of global disruptions.

Call to Curb Misinformation

At the same time, he urged the public to exercise caution when sharing information, particularly content that has not been verified.

Misinformation, he warned, could lead to confusion and undermine efforts to manage the crisis effectively.

This message echoes earlier remarks by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who called on all parties to act responsibly in disseminating information during challenging times.

Public Cooperation Key to Resilience

Fadillah highlighted that overcoming the crisis requires collective effort, not just government action.

He encouraged both individuals and businesses to adopt responsible energy consumption habits, reduce waste and prioritise efficiency in daily usage.

According to him, discipline, cooperation and shared confidence will be crucial in ensuring Malaysia remains stable and resilient despite global challenges.

With coordinated efforts across all sectors, Malaysia is expected to navigate the energy crisis while continuing to safeguard the well-being of its people.
