Fadhlina visits late trooper Indiran’s family, assures educational support for siblings
GEORGE TOWN: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has pledged that the Ministry of Education will coordinate assistance to safeguard the welfare and education of the youngest sibling of the late Trooper K. Indiran.
She said the District Education Office has been instructed to organise the necessary support for K. Maitraashini, a Year Six pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan Convent Greenlane, to ensure her learning continues without disruption.
Education authorities tasked with providing support
Fadhlina emphasised that the ministry remains committed to monitoring and addressing the child’s educational needs.
She assured the family that appropriate assistance would be provided continuously to ensure stability in the student’s academic journey.
Officials from the district education office were also present during the visit to facilitate coordination.
Minister offers condolences and contributions
During her visit to the family’s home in Taman Sri Nibong, Fadhlina met Indiran’s mother, S. Usha, and his siblings to offer condolences.
She also presented contributions aimed at easing the family’s burden following the loss of their primary breadwinner.
The meeting was an emotional moment as the minister listened to the family’s experience and grief.
Siblings continuing their education
Indiran is survived by three siblings, including Varshini, 21, who is studying at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and Sarvien, 17, a student at a MARA Junior Science College in Kulim.
Fadhlina said Indiran’s passing represents not only a loss to his family but also to the nation, as he was a young member of the security forces.
Mother expresses gratitude for support
His mother expressed appreciation for the minister’s visit and support during the difficult time.
She shared that Indiran had been a pillar of strength following the death of her husband, a Royal Malaysian Air Force pilot, in 2016.
Indiran, 22, was undergoing military training in Kuantan when he was found unconscious and later passed away while receiving treatment.
The ministry has pledged continued support to ensure his siblings’ education and welfare remain protected.
