Amir Nafis Still Shaken After On-Set Accident, Admits Sleepless Nights Replaying Incident
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — Actor Amir Nafis has admitted that he is still unsettled following a recent accident that occurred during filming in Kota Tinggi, Johor, describing it as the most serious injury he has experienced in his acting career.
Although he did not suffer fractures like fellow actor Datuk Remy Ishak — who reportedly sustained a cracked rib — Amir said the impact of the incident left him physically battered and emotionally shaken.
“I wasn’t the worst injured, but it was a serious incident. I had cuts and pain around my neck, cheek and both legs. It felt like I had been beaten,” said the 33-year-old actor, whose full name is Amir Nafis Ma’arof.
He spoke to reporters during a press conference for the programme Puasa Tetap Puasa, Raya Tetap Raya held at Studio M1 Angkasapuri Kota Media recently.
While grateful that no bones were broken, Amir acknowledged that the physical pain was intense. He has since returned to filming after taking a two-day break, but said the emotional effects have lingered.
Limited Details Pending Official Statement
When asked about the sequence of events that led to the accident, Amir declined to elaborate, explaining that the production team had advised him not to disclose further details until an official statement is released.
“I can only share this much for now. The production team will clarify the actual situation soon. It involves many parties, so I cannot comment further at this stage,” he said.
The project involved has not been publicly named.
Emotional Impact Still Present
Despite resuming work, Amir admitted that the experience has left a psychological mark. He said the frightening moment often resurfaces in his mind, particularly when he is trying to fall asleep.
“It would be dishonest to say I’m 100 per cent fine. I’m not traumatised to the point of refusing action scenes, but there is nervousness. Sometimes I sweat a little when filming resumes,” he shared.
Throughout his acting journey, Amir has endured previous injuries including a broken finger, sprains and falls during stunt sequences. However, he said this particular incident stands out due to its emotional impact.
“Mentally, it shook me. There are moments when I wake up at night and the scene replays in my mind,” he admitted.
His candid confession reveals the vulnerability behind the tough on-screen persona audiences are used to seeing. While physically on the road to recovery, Amir acknowledged that rebuilding emotional confidence takes time.
For now, he remains thankful the outcome was not worse and hopes the experience serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions on filming sets.
