Anwar Slams Islamabad Mosque Bombing, Calls It an Inhumane Act

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned the bombing at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, which claimed at least 31 lives during Friday prayers.

He described the attack as a cruel and inhumane act that violated the sanctity of places of worship and basic human values.

“I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. An attack on worshippers is an assault on humanity itself,” he said in a social media post today.

Malaysia Expresses Solidarity

Anwar extended his condolences to the victims’ families and expressed Malaysia’s full support for the people of Pakistan during this difficult period.

He also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured and for strength for those traumatised by the incident.

“Malaysia stands in solidarity with Pakistan in this time of sorrow,” he said.

Call for Thorough Investigation

The Prime Minister voiced confidence that Pakistani authorities would conduct a comprehensive investigation and take firm action against those responsible.

He stressed that violence can never be justified, especially when it targets religious institutions.

Deadly Attack During Prayers

The incident occurred at the Imambargah Qasr-e-Khadijatul Kubra mosque in Islamabad’s Tarlai area, where a suicide bomber reportedly detonated himself.

At least 31 people were killed and more than 160 others injured, raising renewed concerns over the safety of places of worship.
