From Beauty Queen to Social Advocate: Taanusiya Chetty Leads Education Drive for Marginalised Children

KUALA LUMPUR — In an industry often associated with glamour and fame, Taanusiya Chetty stands out for redefining what it means to be a modern beauty queen.

As Miss World Malaysia 2024/2025, Taanusiya believes her title carries a deeper purpose — to advocate for education, social inclusion and equal opportunities for underprivileged children.

Rather than viewing pageantry as a personal milestone, she sees it as a platform to raise awareness, influence public attitudes and inspire meaningful community action.

Through the Cahaya Project under Be The Change Malaysia, she focuses on supporting hospitalised children by providing structured learning programmes within medical facilities. This initiative ensures that young patients remain connected to education despite their health challenges.

“Education should never be interrupted by circumstances. It is a foundation for hope and resilience,” she said.

Her outreach also includes the Lestari Laut Project in Pulau Ketam, where she promotes digital literacy, basic academic skills and self-confidence among rural and indigenous children, helping to bridge educational gaps between urban and remote communities.

Mental and emotional well-being remains a central pillar of her work. Taanusiya believes that sustainable development requires nurturing confidence, self-worth and psychological stability alongside academic growth.

Currently pursuing her studies at Management and Science University, she integrates theory with practice by applying educational principles directly to her community programmes.

As she prepares for the international Miss World stage, Taanusiya continues to strengthen her leadership, physical fitness and emotional resilience, while balancing her roles as a student, model and social advocate.

For her, the crown represents service rather than status. It symbolises commitment, responsibility and the belief that compassion-driven leadership can shape a brighter future for Malaysia’s younger generation.
