Enfinity Global surpasses 500MW of operational solar capacity in Italy, strengthens renewable energy footprint
MILAN: Renewable energy developer Enfinity Global has surpassed 500 megawatts (MW) of operational solar power capacity in Italy, marking a significant milestone in its expansion strategy and reinforcing its role in supporting the country’s transition towards a cleaner, more secure energy system.
The company announced that its operational solar portfolio in Italy has reached 535MW within just three years, highlighting its ability to rapidly develop and commission large-scale renewable energy projects amid growing electricity demand and decarbonisation efforts.
The achievement positions Enfinity Global among the country’s leading renewable energy operators as Italy accelerates investments in sustainable power generation to strengthen energy security and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources.
Enfinity Global currently operates 18 utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) plants across the Italian regions of Lazio and Emilia-Romagna, forming a key component of its expanding renewable energy portfolio in Europe.
Together, these facilities are expected to generate nearly one terawatt-hour (TWh) of clean electricity annually, producing enough renewable energy to meet the yearly power needs of approximately 350,000 households.
The projects are also projected to prevent around 290,904 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) emissions each year, contributing to Italy’s climate commitments and long-term carbon reduction targets.
General Manager for Italy Alessandro Ceschiat described the milestone as more than simply an increase in installed generating capacity, saying it reflects the company’s capability to deliver critical energy infrastructure that benefits both the national economy and local communities.
He said every new solar facility contributes to strengthening Italy’s energy resilience while supporting industrial competitiveness, job creation and sustainable economic development.
According to Ceschiat, expanding renewable generation capacity remains essential as Italy continues diversifying its energy mix and reducing exposure to global energy market volatility.
Enfinity Global also credited the achievement to the combined efforts of its workforce and long-standing collaboration with industrial, financial and institutional partners.
General Manager for European Operations Maria Diez said the rapid growth of the company’s Italian portfolio demonstrates the strength of collaborative partnerships in transforming ambitious renewable energy projects into fully operational assets.
She noted that the company’s continued expansion reflects a shared commitment to accelerating the deployment of clean energy infrastructure capable of supporting Europe’s broader energy transition.
Beyond its existing operational assets, Enfinity Global continues to strengthen its position within Italy’s renewable energy sector.
Industry data compiled by Elemens indicates the company has become the country’s second-largest operator based on authorised solar generation capacity, having surpassed the one-gigawatt (GW) threshold in approved projects.
The company is simultaneously expanding its presence in the energy storage sector, where approximately 600MW of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects have already secured regulatory approval.
These developments form part of Enfinity Global’s broader 9.1GW development pipeline, encompassing solar generation and energy storage projects at various stages of planning and execution.
The company’s rapid growth has also been supported by its ability to secure large-scale project financing.
Enfinity Global said it has successfully attracted more than €1 billion in investment to support the development of its Italian renewable energy portfolio, underpinned by expertise in capital structuring, infrastructure financing and long-term project development.
The continued investment highlights growing confidence in Italy’s renewable energy market as governments, financial institutions and private investors increase support for projects that enhance energy independence while advancing climate objectives.
With further solar and energy storage projects progressing through development, Enfinity Global expects to play an increasingly prominent role in expanding Italy’s renewable electricity capacity, supporting national decarbonisation targets and strengthening the country’s transition towards a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
