PAS Selangor Launches Non-Muslim Service Centre to Expand Community Outreach and Welfare Assistance

SELAYANG: PAS Selangor has expanded its grassroots engagement efforts with the opening of a dedicated Non-Muslim Service Centre in Selayang, describing the initiative as a platform to strengthen community ties, provide welfare assistance and improve communication with residents from all backgrounds.

The new service centre is intended to serve as a focal point for community engagement by receiving public feedback, addressing local concerns and coordinating welfare programmes for residents regardless of race or religion. Party leaders said the initiative reflects PAS’ continued commitment to serving local communities while fostering closer cooperation among Malaysia’s diverse society.

Speaking during the launch ceremony, PAS Selayang Division Chief Zaidy Abdul Talib said the establishment of the centre represents the party’s effort to broaden public understanding of its role within the community and reinforce its commitment to providing assistance beyond political activities.

According to him, engagement with non-Muslim communities has been part of PAS’ outreach efforts for many years, particularly through welfare programmes and community initiatives aimed at addressing local needs. He said the opening of the centre provides an additional platform to strengthen those efforts while creating greater opportunities for direct interaction with residents.

Zaidy also emphasised that the party’s local leadership remains committed to promoting harmony within the community and rejects elements of extremism that could undermine social stability. He said mutual understanding and constructive engagement are important in maintaining peaceful relations within Malaysia’s multicultural society.

Also present at the event was Dr. Shawn Loh Sheng Nian, Special Officer at the Office of the PAS Selangor Commissioner, who said the service centre would function as an accessible channel for members of the public to raise concerns and seek assistance on issues affecting their daily lives.

He explained that the initiative aims to strengthen communication between the party and local communities while ensuring that welfare support reaches those who require assistance. Dr. Shawn said meaningful cooperation built on mutual respect and understanding remains an important foundation for building a harmonious and stable society.

In addition to handling community enquiries and social issues, the centre is expected to coordinate welfare-related activities designed to support vulnerable groups within the surrounding area. Party representatives said the facility would also help identify local concerns that may require further engagement with relevant agencies or community organisations.

The official launch was accompanied by a community assistance programme in which free rice was distributed to residents as part of efforts to help ease the financial burden associated with rising living costs. Organisers described the initiative as one of several welfare activities planned under the centre’s community engagement programme.

PAS Selangor said the establishment of the Non-Muslim Service Centre reflects its intention to strengthen grassroots engagement by maintaining regular communication with local residents while expanding welfare initiatives that benefit the wider community. The party expressed hope that the centre would become a practical platform for addressing public concerns, encouraging community participation and fostering stronger social cohesion through continued engagement and public service.
