Selangor Aerospace Forum Strengthens Malaysia’s Position in the Regional Aerospace Supply Chain
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is seeking to reinforce its role as a leading aerospace and future mobility hub in Southeast Asia through the Selangor Aerospace Forum, held alongside the MyAERO Summit 2026, which brings together industry leaders, investors and policymakers to accelerate regional collaboration and high-value investments.
The two-day summit, organised by the National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO Malaysia) with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), serves as a strategic platform to strengthen the country’s aerospace ecosystem while encouraging greater cross-border partnerships throughout the region.
Held under the theme “Advancing the Aerospace Value Chain Across the Region,” the forum focuses on expanding Malaysia’s capabilities in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), aerospace manufacturing, advanced technologies and the emerging low-altitude economy, which is expected to become an important component of future transportation and logistics systems.
Organisers said the event is designed not only to attract new investment but also to facilitate collaboration between domestic industry players and international partners, enabling knowledge transfer, technological innovation and sustainable industrial growth.
Invest Selangor has highlighted the state’s competitive aerospace infrastructure, including the Selangor Aero Park (SAP) and Khazanah’s Impeccable Vintage Properties (IVP), as key assets supporting Selangor’s continued leadership within Malaysia’s aerospace industry.
These facilities are expected to strengthen the state’s attractiveness for aerospace manufacturers, technology companies and maintenance providers seeking regional expansion opportunities.
Despite the industry’s positive outlook, Malaysia’s aerospace sector continues to navigate global uncertainties arising from geopolitical tensions, disrupted international air routes, rising operational costs and ongoing supply chain challenges affecting manufacturers worldwide.
To enhance supply chain resilience, major companies such as UMW Aerospace, Boeing Composites Malaysia and Zenix Aerospace UPECA are expanding manufacturing integration, strengthening production capabilities and improving operational efficiency to increase Malaysia’s competitiveness within the global aerospace market.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s growing MRO segment continues to benefit from digital transformation initiatives undertaken by leading service providers including Asia Digital Engineering (ADE), MAB Engineering Services (MABES), Sepang Aircraft Engineering and Skyways Technic, which are expanding high-value maintenance services for regional and international customers.
Beyond conventional aviation, the forum also explored opportunities surrounding the low-altitude economy, covering innovations such as unmanned aerial systems, advanced air mobility and next-generation aviation technologies.
Industry participants discussed regulatory readiness, market development and technology adoption through collaboration involving organisers from Wuhu, China, together with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA).
These discussions are expected to contribute towards establishing a supportive ecosystem for emerging aviation technologies while creating new business opportunities within Malaysia’s digital and advanced manufacturing sectors.
More than 200 delegates attended the forum, including corporate executives, investors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and government representatives from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, China and France.
The strong international participation reflects growing confidence in Malaysia’s aerospace industry and highlights the country’s increasing importance as a destination for advanced manufacturing, aviation technology, sustainable investment and regional aerospace cooperation.
As global demand for resilient aerospace supply chains and future mobility solutions continues to grow, organisers believe initiatives such as the Selangor Aerospace Forum will play an increasingly significant role in positioning Malaysia as a competitive regional gateway for aerospace innovation and long-term industrial development.
