YTL AI Labs and Yes Bring ILMUchat to Millions as Malaysia’s First AI-First Telco Emerges
KUALA LUMPUR: YTL AI Labs has partnered with mobile network operator Yes to make its locally developed artificial intelligence platform, ILMUchat, available to millions of Malaysians, marking a significant step in the company’s ambition to establish Yes as Malaysia’s first AI-first telecommunications provider.
The collaboration brings together YTL AI Labs’ sovereign AI technology and YTL Communications’ nationwide mobile network, allowing customers to access advanced AI capabilities as part of their everyday digital experience.
In a joint statement, the companies said ILMUchat was designed and developed by Malaysians to serve local users, combining internationally competitive AI technology with an understanding of Malaysia’s languages, culture and social context.
The platform is intended to provide more relevant and practical AI assistance for Malaysian users while supporting the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
YTL AI Labs Chief Executive Officer Foong Chee Mun described the partnership as an important milestone that expands ILMUchat’s reach to more than three million Yes subscribers nationwide.
According to him, integrating the platform into the Yes ecosystem reinforces the company’s vision of making AI services widely accessible while positioning Yes as Malaysia’s first mobile operator built around AI-enabled services.
YTL Communications Chief Executive Officer Wing K. Lee said the initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to ensuring Malaysians can benefit from AI technology created within the country.
As part of the collaboration, eligible Yes customers will receive complimentary access to ILMUchat Pro, enabling them to use the platform’s advanced AI capabilities without additional subscription charges.
He added that new customers can also experience the service through the Yes 5G Advanced prepaid starter pack, which is available from RM10.
Beyond conventional AI text generation, ILMUchat offers a wide range of productivity tools designed to simplify everyday tasks for individuals, students and businesses.
Users can create presentation slides, design promotional posters, develop simple applications and games, as well as generate business documents, proposals and correspondence directly within the platform.
The system also allows completed documents to be shared instantly through WhatsApp or email with a single click, streamlining workplace and personal productivity.
ILMUchat is currently accessible through its web platform, the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and the MyYes application.
For users seeking unrestricted access to premium capabilities, ILMUchat Pro is available through a monthly subscription priced at RM50.
The partnership highlights YTL’s broader strategy of embedding artificial intelligence into everyday digital services while strengthening Malaysia’s home-grown AI ecosystem.
As telecommunications providers increasingly integrate AI into their service offerings, the collaboration positions Yes not only as a connectivity provider but also as a platform delivering intelligent digital solutions developed specifically for the Malaysian market.
