7-Eleven Malaysia Expands Career Opportunities for Perkeso RTW Participants
IPOH: 7-Eleven Malaysia is reinforcing its commitment to social development by partnering with the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) to provide employment opportunities and workplace training for participants of the Return to Work (RTW) programme.
The initiative is designed to help insured individuals who are recovering from injuries or health conditions regain confidence, rebuild their careers and re-enter the workforce through structured training and real employment opportunities.
The collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed at Perkeso’s National Neuro-Robotics and Cybernics Rehabilitation Centre here today.
7-Eleven Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Mohd. Annuar Zaini said the RTW programme goes beyond employment by giving participants a chance to rebuild their lives and regain independence.
According to him, the company’s nationwide network of more than 2,700 stores places it in a strong position to offer flexible and accessible job opportunities.
“Our stores are located in residential areas and communities across the country.
“This allows RTW participants to work closer to home, making the transition back into employment much smoother and less stressful,” he said.
Mohd. Annuar noted that the company’s shift-based working system provides additional flexibility, especially for individuals who are still undergoing treatment or require time to adapt to a regular working routine.
He believes many people who have experienced injuries or health setbacks still possess valuable skills and the ability to contribute meaningfully if given the right opportunity.
“Sometimes, all they need is a second chance.
“Through this programme, we want to be part of their journey in rebuilding their lives and careers,” he said.
The first group of RTW participants is expected to begin training and workplace placements before the end of this year.
Mohd. Annuar expressed hope that the initiative would eventually expand to more locations and involve a larger number of participants.
He said participants will be exposed to various aspects of retail operations, including inventory management, customer service, product handling and daily store operations.
Such exposure, he added, is essential in equipping participants with practical skills that remain relevant in today’s evolving job market.
“Our objective is not merely to offer jobs.
“We want to help participants develop skills, regain confidence and become more independent in the long run,” he said.
The RTW programme is one of Perkeso’s key initiatives aimed at helping workers who have suffered injuries or medical conditions return to employment through rehabilitation, skills training and suitable job placements.
Collaborations with private sector companies such as 7-Eleven Malaysia are expected to create more employment opportunities while fostering a more inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
Mohd. Annuar said the success of such programmes depends on strong cooperation between government agencies and private companies, adding that he hopes more organisations will step forward to support individuals seeking a second chance at a better future.
