Police Appeal for Public Help to Find Missing Tahfiz Student in Ampang

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have launched an appeal to the public for assistance in locating a 15-year-old tahfiz student who was reported missing after he was believed to have left his school in Ulu Kelang, Ampang, on Friday.

The disappearance of the teenager has raised concern among family members and school authorities, with police now intensifying efforts to trace his whereabouts while urging members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.

Ampang Jaya police said the case came to light after teachers at the tahfiz school realised that the student was no longer within the school compound and could not be located despite initial attempts to find him.

According to police, teachers contacted the teenager’s mother at approximately 8.15pm on Friday after discovering that he was missing.

The family subsequently lodged a police report, prompting authorities to begin an investigation and launch search efforts.

Police identified the missing teenager as Muhammad Daniel Azizan Abdullah, aged 15.

He is described as being approximately 175 centimetres tall, weighing around 65 kilogrammes and having a fair complexion.

Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the clothes he was wearing at the time of his disappearance or whether there are any indications of where he may have gone, as investigations are still ongoing.

Police said their current priority is to establish the teenager’s whereabouts and gather information from anyone who may have seen him or had contact with him after he was last seen at the school.

“We hope members of the public who have any information will come forward and assist the investigation.

“Every piece of information, no matter how small it may seem, could help us locate the missing teenager as quickly as possible,” police said.

The authorities stressed that cases involving missing teenagers are treated seriously due to safety concerns and the need to ensure that those involved are found quickly and safely.

Police also reminded the public to avoid spreading unverified information or rumours regarding the teenager’s disappearance, saying such speculation could complicate investigations and cause unnecessary distress to the family.

Instead, members of the public are encouraged to share any credible information directly with investigators so that it can be properly verified and acted upon.

The police said cooperation from the public remains one of the most important elements in missing persons investigations, especially during the early stages when information is still limited.

Anyone who has information regarding the teenager’s whereabouts is urged to contact investigating officer Insp Nur Alia Dyana Raimi at 017-6515201.

Alternatively, they may contact the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters control centre at 03-42897222 or provide information at any nearby police station.

Police assured that search and investigation efforts would continue until the teenager is found and expressed hope that public cooperation would help bring the case to a positive conclusion.

“Our priority is to ensure the teenager is located as soon as possible and reunited safely with his family.

“We appreciate the public’s concern and any assistance that can support the ongoing search efforts,” police said.
