Aisha Retno Says Threads Lets Her Connect With Fans Beyond Music

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian singer Aisha Retno believes social media platform Threads offers a positive space for creativity and authentic interaction, despite criticism from some users who view the platform as increasingly toxic.

The singer said public perception of Threads often overlooks its potential to become a meaningful platform for discovering talent, sharing ideas and building stronger connections between artists and audiences.

According to Aisha, the experience users have on Threads largely depends on how they choose to engage with the platform and the type of content they contribute.

Rather than focusing on negativity, she sees Threads as an opportunity to create engaging conversations and foster a more personal relationship with followers.

“Many people label Threads as a toxic platform, but I think it can be a great space when used in the right way. It allows people to discover talents, exchange ideas and enjoy lighter conversations,” she said.

The singer explained that her own journey on Threads began as part of efforts to promote her song Jodoh Lebaran.

What started as a promotional tool eventually evolved into a platform where she felt comfortable sharing more of her personality and interacting directly with fans.

Unlike other social media channels that often require carefully curated content, Aisha said Threads gives her the freedom to communicate in a more relaxed and spontaneous manner.

She noted that when she first joined the platform, much of the content she encountered revolved around humour and casual conversations, which encouraged her to participate in a similar way.

As a result, followers began to see a side of her that is not always visible through performances, interviews or music releases.

The singer admitted that she enjoys being able to showcase her playful personality and engage with supporters on a more personal level.

According to Aisha, social media has become an important tool for artists seeking to remain connected with audiences, and Threads offers a unique environment where promotional content can blend naturally with everyday interactions.

She described the platform as a subtle yet effective way to introduce new music while simultaneously allowing people to learn more about the individual behind the artist persona.

The approach has resonated with many followers and contributed to her growing popularity on the platform.

Aisha has even earned the nickname “Ratu Kacip” among Threads users, a label she accepts with good humour.

Despite the playful reputation, she stressed that she remains aware of the boundaries required when communicating publicly and ensures her content remains respectful and constructive.

The singer acknowledged that criticism and negative comments occasionally appear, but said such reactions are unavoidable on any social media platform.

Rather than focusing on negativity, she prefers to use Threads as a place to entertain, connect and share positive experiences with her audience.

For Aisha, the platform’s greatest value lies in its ability to humanise artists and create genuine interactions that go beyond music promotion, helping build stronger and more meaningful relationships with fans.
