UMNO Ready To Accept Former Bersatu Leaders Through Rumah Bangsa Initiative
KLUANG: United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) is prepared to welcome former members and leaders of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) who have faced disciplinary action to join the party through the Rumah Bangsa initiative.
UMNO vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that as a party representing the Malay community, UMNO remains open to anyone who wishes to align themselves with the party’s struggle.
According to him, the Rumah Bangsa concept symbolises a large home capable of bringing together all those who wish to reunite under UMNO.
“We are open to accepting anyone because Rumah Bangsa is a house large enough for everyone,” he told reporters after officiating the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Madani Economy Programme at Batu 3 Camp today.
He was commenting on the disciplinary actions recently imposed by Bersatu’s disciplinary board against several elected representatives and party leaders.
Yesterday, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia reportedly expelled and suspended four more elected representatives and party leaders for allegedly violating Clause 9.1.4 of the party constitution as well as its code of ethics and conduct.
Prior to that, six other Bersatu leaders also faced disciplinary action, including two state assemblymen who were expelled while four others were immediately suspended.
The Rumah Bangsa initiative, introduced by UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, aims to unite the Malay community while also providing opportunities for former party members to return to UMNO.
The initiative has reportedly received more than 10,000 applications to date, reflecting strong public response towards the unification effort.
