Special ‘V MY’ Registration Series Launched to Support Visit Malaysia 2026 Campaign
PUTRAJAYA, June 10 — Malaysia has unveiled a special vehicle registration series bearing the ‘V MY’ prefix in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, as part of efforts to strengthen tourism promotion and generate additional funding for national tourism initiatives.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the exclusive registration series, ranging from ‘V 1 MY’ to ‘V 9999 MY’, is expected to attract strong interest from collectors and motorists seeking unique vehicle numbers.
He said the initiative provides an opportunity for the public to own a distinctive registration number while contributing to the promotion of Malaysia’s tourism industry.
“The special series is expected to appeal to enthusiasts who value premium registration numbers and at the same time wish to support the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign,” he said.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man during the launch ceremony held in Putrajaya today.
Tiong also expressed appreciation to the Road Transport Department Malaysia and Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook for their support in bringing the initiative to fruition.
According to him, proceeds generated from the bidding exercise will help strengthen promotional activities and international marketing efforts tied to VM2026.
He added that collaboration between government agencies, state authorities, airlines, tourism operators, hospitality players and local communities remains crucial in ensuring the success of the nationwide tourism campaign.
Malaysia’s objective, he said, extends beyond increasing tourist arrivals and includes raising global awareness of the country’s diverse attractions, cultural heritage and unique travel experiences.
“Our goal is not only to welcome more visitors but also to showcase the many destinations and experiences that make Malaysia a unique tourism destination,” he said.
He also called on industry stakeholders, non-governmental organisations and members of the public to support VM2026 by helping promote the campaign through various channels.
Tiong noted that stronger tourist arrivals would create positive spillover effects across multiple sectors, including hospitality, transportation, retail, food services and small businesses.
Meanwhile, the Road Transport Department announced that bidding for the ‘V MY’ special registration series will be open from June 13 to June 17.
The minimum bid price has been set at RM300, while highly sought-after premium numbers could fetch bids of up to RM20,000 depending on demand and exclusivity.
