Shila Amzah Celebrates Son’s Progress on World Autism Awareness Day, Calls for Greater Understanding

PETALING JAYA, — Singer Shila Amzah has expressed pride and gratitude over the progress of her son, Seth Uwais, in conjunction with World Autism Awareness Day, highlighting his growth and resilience as a child on the autism spectrum.

In a social media post, Shila shared that both she and her partner are deeply proud of Seth’s development, noting that he continues to show encouraging improvement in adapting to his surroundings.

She described her son’s journey as one filled with challenges, but also meaningful milestones that have shaped her experience as a parent.

“Every day, we see progress. He is learning, growing, and trying his best to understand the world around him,” she said.

A Meaningful Journey of Growth and Resilience

Shila emphasised that raising a child with autism requires patience, dedication, and emotional strength, but also brings a profound sense of fulfilment.

She said even small achievements are celebrated, as they represent significant progress in her son’s development.

“Each step forward, no matter how small, is something we cherish,” she said.

She also extended her appreciation to other parents raising children with autism, describing them as true heroes.

Positive Development in Daily Life

According to Shila, Seth has shown increasing confidence and adaptability, particularly in his daily routine, including attending school.

She said his willingness to learn and adjust to new environments has been a source of encouragement.

“He is currently at school, doing his best to adapt and grow. I am very proud of his efforts,” she said.

A Unique and Honest Personality

Shila also spoke about Seth’s cheerful and honest personality, noting that he embraces his identity without hesitation.

She shared that her son sometimes assumes others are also on the autism spectrum, leading him to ask direct questions about their experiences.

“He is still learning about the world. His perspective is different, but that is what makes him special,” she said.

She urged the public not to take offence at such questions, as they are part of his learning process.

Call for Greater Awareness and Support

Shila called for greater understanding and empathy from society toward individuals with autism and their families.

She stressed that community support plays a vital role in helping children on the spectrum reach their full potential.

“Awareness and acceptance are key to helping them thrive,” she said.

Seth Uwais is Shila’s son from her previous marriage to Haris Elias. Despite changes in her personal life, Shila remains committed to supporting her son’s growth and well-being.

Her message has resonated widely, contributing to increased awareness about autism and the importance of inclusivity and compassion.
