Sarawak DAP to Introduce Fresh Candidates, Eyes GPS-Held Seats in Upcoming State Election

SIBU, March 2 — Sarawak’s Democratic Action Party (DAP) is preparing to field a new generation of candidates in the upcoming state election as it seeks to challenge key constituencies currently held by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), including Pelawan and Bukit Assek.

Sarawak DAP vice chairman Oscar Ling said the move is part of the party’s broader plan to strengthen its position and reconnect with voters.

He said new candidates have been groomed and are ready to step forward.

DAP determined to contest strategic constituencies

Ling, who is also the Member of Parliament for Sibu, confirmed that DAP intends to contest several important seats currently held by GPS.

He said the party continues to play the role of opposition at the state level despite being part of the federal government.

He added that DAP remains committed to offering voters an alternative.

Ling said the party leadership is carefully evaluating potential candidates.
