Saifuddin Urges Home Ministry Staff to Strengthen Values and Spiritual Resilience in Safeguarding Nation
PUTRAJAYA, Feb 23 — Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has called on all personnel of the Kementerian Dalam Negeri Malaysia (KDN) to use the Ramadan period to strengthen moral values and spiritual resilience while carrying out their responsibilities.
He said Ramadan provides an opportunity not only for religious reflection but also for reinforcing integrity and dedication in public service.
According to Saifuddin, values such as respect, compassion, and mutual understanding must form the foundation of the ministry’s work culture.
“These values must guide our duties at all times, as safeguarding national security requires strong moral character and commitment,” he said during the Values Appreciation Programme in Putrajaya.
Spiritual strength important in facing security challenges
Saifuddin said KDN personnel should use Ramadan as a time for reflection, especially given the challenges they face in protecting national borders and combating crime.
He noted that enforcement duties, including border security, managing entry points, and tackling drug trafficking, demand resilience and discipline.
He said spiritual strength can help personnel remain focused and committed to their mission.
He emphasised the importance of balancing professional responsibility with personal values.
Programme promotes unity and shared responsibility
The event, attended by about 1,000 ministry staff and agency personnel, began at 6.30pm.
It also featured a Ramadan talk delivered by Ustaz Marwan Bukhari A Hamid.
Saifuddin said such programmes help strengthen unity and reinforce positive work values.
He expressed hope that KDN personnel will continue serving with integrity and dedication.
