Malaysia Maintains Balanced and Adaptive Foreign Policy to Strengthen Global Relations

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 23 — Malaysia will continue to adopt a balanced and adaptive foreign policy approach to safeguard national interests and maintain strong international partnerships in an increasingly complex global environment.

Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan said Malaysia’s diplomatic strategy has long been built on trust, sincerity, and mutual respect.

He said the country remains committed to strengthening ties with global partners through constructive engagement.

“We value the relationships we have built and will continue to strengthen them with mutual respect and trust,” he said during a Foreign Ministry event at Wisma Putra.

Strong diplomacy vital for economic resilience

Mohamad said effective foreign policy is essential to ensure national stability and economic resilience.

As a trade-dependent nation, Malaysia must maintain strong diplomatic ties to support economic growth and international cooperation.

He added that stable relations also benefit Malaysians by facilitating global opportunities.

Strategic roadmap launched to guide Malaysia’s global engagement

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim earlier launched the Foreign Ministry Strategic Plan 2026–2030.

The roadmap will guide Malaysia’s diplomatic engagement with countries and international organisations over the next five years.

It aims to enhance Malaysia’s global presence and strengthen strategic partnerships.

The plan reflects Malaysia’s commitment to remaining competitive and relevant on the international stage.
