Proton e.MAS 5 Achieves Record 3,026 January Deliveries, Strengthening Malaysia’s EV Industry

SHAH ALAM — The Proton e.MAS 5 has reached a major milestone after recording 3,026 vehicle deliveries in January 2026, marking the highest monthly performance ever achieved by a single PRO-NET model since the brand’s introduction.

This achievement highlights growing public confidence in electric vehicles and reflects Proton’s success in delivering practical, affordable and locally relevant green mobility solutions. It also signals a strong shift in Malaysian consumers’ mindset towards sustainable transportation.

Throughout 2025, the e.MAS brand sold nearly 10,000 units, contributing approximately six per cent to Proton’s overall annual sales while capturing more than 20 per cent of the national EV market. These figures place e.MAS among the leading electric vehicle brands in Malaysia.

Introduced in October 2025 as Malaysia’s first truly affordable electric vehicle, the e.MAS 5 was designed to meet the needs of urban drivers, professionals and small families. Competitive pricing, lower ownership costs and improved charging infrastructure have made the model highly attractive to first-time EV buyers.

PRO-NET Chief Executive Officer Zhang Qiang said the record-breaking performance demonstrates strong public trust in Proton’s electrification strategy and Malaysia’s green mobility agenda. He noted that customer support has been instrumental in driving the model’s success.

To further encourage adoption, PRO-NET will continue offering the RM3,000 launch rebate, helping reduce entry barriers for new EV owners and making electric mobility more accessible to the wider public.

Beyond vehicle sales, PRO-NET is focusing on developing a comprehensive EV ecosystem that includes charging networks, digital services, smart applications and reliable after-sales support to enhance the overall ownership experience.

In terms of performance, the e.MAS 5 delivers a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 325 kilometres, making it suitable for daily commuting and moderate intercity travel. Its fast DC charging capability allows users to recharge efficiently, improving convenience and usability.

The vehicle features a 14.6-inch infotainment display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-language voice commands and smart connectivity through the Proton e.MAS application, enabling users to monitor vehicle status remotely.

Interior space is another key advantage, with a spacious cabin, 375-litre boot capacity and additional front storage providing practicality for modern urban lifestyles and family use.

Industry analysts believe the strong performance of the e.MAS 5 reflects Malaysia’s transition into a more mature EV market. Supported by government incentives, environmental awareness and technological development, the sector is expected to grow steadily over the next decade.

The success of the e.MAS 5 also positions Proton to expand its electric and hybrid portfolio further, strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness in the regional and global automotive industry.
