PM Anwar Orders Fast-Tracking of District-Level Projects, Prioritises Immediate Public Impact

PONTIAN – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has directed that small-scale development projects across all districts nationwide be accelerated to ensure faster delivery of tangible benefits to local communities.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the additional building at Pontian Hospital and the Karnival Rakyat Madani, Anwar stressed that while mega infrastructure projects are crucial for national growth, everyday public concerns must take precedence.

According to him, citizens may appreciate announcements of large-scale investments, but what truly improves quality of life are repaired drainage systems, resurfaced roads and restored community facilities.

One-Year Acceleration Initiative

The prime minister, who also serves as Finance Minister, announced that beginning January 2026, the government will dedicate a full year to intensifying the implementation of small district-level projects.

He instructed all district officers to submit comprehensive reports on ongoing and pending projects to prevent bottlenecks during execution stages.

Anwar noted that implementation delays often stem from unresolved technical issues and weak coordination, resulting in prolonged project stagnation.

He said he personally visits districts to identify stalled initiatives and intervene where necessary to expedite progress.

Pontian Hospital Classified as Fast-Track Project

During the event, Anwar ordered that the additional building at Pontian Hospital be classified as a fast-track project to accelerate its completion.

He also reminded contractors and project implementers, particularly in the healthcare sector, to uphold strict integrity standards and ensure transparency in procurement processes.

“No leakages, no wastage, and proper tender procedures must be observed to ensure projects genuinely benefit the people,” he said.

The prime minister emphasised that under the Madani Government, governance must remain clean, efficient and accountable.

As an immediate measure, Anwar approved an allocation of RM2 million for upgrading basic infrastructure and building a surau in Pontian district.

The directive signals a policy shift towards people-centric governance, prioritising swift implementation of smaller but impactful projects that directly affect daily life.

By accelerating district-level initiatives, the administration aims to reinforce public trust and ensure that development commitments translate into visible improvements on the ground.
