PH Slams ‘Betrayal’ Move by 14 BN Assemblymen, Vows to Defend Negeri Sembilan Government

PETALING JAYA, April 29 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) has strongly rejected what it described as a “betrayal” by 14 Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan who withdrew support for the state government, calling the move unjustified and politically destabilising.

PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the action had no basis and was not linked to the performance of Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

He added that the development runs counter to the spirit of cooperation underpinning the Unity Government.

PH Rejects ‘Backdoor’ Attempt to Seize Power

Fahmi described the move as an attempt to take control of the state administration through indirect means, without regard for the electoral mandate or political stability.

“This appears to be an effort to seize power without going through proper democratic processes, ignoring the people’s mandate and the need for stability,” he said in a statement.

He stressed that the timing of the move was particularly inappropriate, as the government is currently managing economic pressures and global supply challenges while working to ease the burden on the public.

Commitment to Stability and Governance

PH reaffirmed its support for the existing state leadership, noting that the administration would continue to function as usual following guidance from Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

Fahmi said the coalition remains committed to working alongside the state leadership to ensure continuity in governance and economic stability.

“PH will continue to support the state government’s leadership in safeguarding the welfare of the people and maintaining economic resilience,” he said.

Respect for Constitutional Monarchy Emphasised

In addition, PH reiterated its stance on upholding the role and authority of the Malay Rulers, stressing the importance of preserving constitutional institutions during times of political uncertainty.

Political Crisis Triggered by Withdrawal of Support

The statement follows a decision by all 14 BN assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan to withdraw support from the government led by Aminuddin, triggering a fresh political crisis in the state.

Despite the development, Aminuddin has maintained that he has been instructed by Tuanku Muhriz to continue administering the state pending further developments.

The situation remains fluid, with political observers closely watching how the crisis unfolds in the coming days.
