Former Rafizi Aide Questioned for Over Eight Hours by MACC in Ongoing Probe

PUTRAJAYA, April 28 — Chai Jin Shern, a former aide to Rafizi Ramli, has completed a lengthy session with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as part of an investigation linked to a high-value international deal.

Chai was seen exiting the MACC headquarters at about 6.30pm after spending more than eight hours assisting investigators. He had earlier arrived at 10am accompanied by his lawyer.

He declined to speak to members of the media waiting outside the premises.

Probe Tied to Semiconductor Agreement

The investigation is believed to involve a deal connected to Arm Holdings Plc, reportedly valued at around RM1.1 billion.

Authorities are examining claims that the agreement may have been concluded hastily and potentially in a manner that could disadvantage the government.

Authorities Examine Possible Conflict of Interest

Sources said the probe is also focusing on whether there were elements of conflict of interest, particularly involving individuals who allegedly took up senior roles in the foreign firm after leaving government positions.

Earlier this month, the MACC had called on Chai to return and assist in the investigation, giving him a two-week window and offering to cover his travel costs.

No Immediate Public Response

Despite the prolonged questioning, Chai did not address the media, leaving details of his statement undisclosed.

The case continues to attract public attention due to its potential implications on governance and transparency in major government-linked agreements.

Investigations are ongoing, with further developments expected as authorities continue their inquiries.
