Pekema Golf President’s Cup Raises Stakes With RM500,000 Prize Offering
CYBERJAYA — The 12th edition of the Pekema Golf President’s Cup is set to return with its biggest reward pool to date, offering total prizes worth RM500,000 as organisers aim to attract stronger participation from amateur golfers and corporate players.
Persatuan Pengimport dan Peniaga Kenderaan Melayu Malaysia president Mohamed Nazari Noordin said the increase in prize value reflects the organisation’s ambition to elevate the profile of the annual championship.
The tournament is scheduled to take place this July at Palm Garden Golf Club.
Four Dongfeng Vehicles Up for Grabs
A key attraction this year will be the hole-in-one rewards involving four vehicles from Dongfeng.
The prizes include two Box models, one Vigo SUV and a premium Dongfeng 007 performance vehicle.
Mohamed Nazari said the total prize value is approximately RM100,000 higher than the amount offered during last year’s edition, which ranged between RM350,000 and RM400,000.
He noted that the upgraded rewards are expected to boost excitement and encourage greater participation from golf enthusiasts nationwide.
Tournament Eyes More Than 120 Flights
Organisers are targeting participation exceeding 120 flights this year, compared with around 100 flights recorded previously.
The tournament could potentially attract nearly 480 amateur golfers from various professional and business backgrounds.
According to Mohamed Nazari, more than 50 bookings have already been received, indicating strong early interest ahead of the competition.
He added that organisers remain confident participation numbers will continue increasing over the coming weeks.
Former Athletes to Receive Assistance
Beyond the sporting element, the championship will also feature a charitable initiative aimed at supporting former national athletes.
Ten former athletes are expected to receive RM3,000 each in appreciation of their contributions and sacrifices while representing the country in sports.
Mohamed Nazari said the initiative reflects Pekema’s continued commitment towards community engagement and appreciation for national sports figures.
Business and Industry Networking Opportunity
The championship will also continue serving as a networking platform involving participants from industries such as automotive, banking, insurance and international trade.
According to organisers, the event creates opportunities for business collaboration while strengthening relationships among industry players in a relaxed sporting environment.
Participation remains limited to amateur golfers only.
