PAS Urged To Strengthen Preparations Ahead Of Malaysia’s 16th General Election
PETALING JAYA: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) must strengthen its preparations and internal structure if the party intends to lead the country following Malaysia’s 16th Malaysian General Election (GE16).
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said preparations for electoral victory should not rely solely on the strength of party machinery, but must also be reinforced through religious education, knowledge and unity within the party ranks.
According to him, party leaders, religious scholars and members must begin preparing themselves now to shoulder the responsibility of governing should PAS be entrusted with power in the next general election.
“PAS must make thorough preparations to lead the country because the responsibility that comes with victory is significant.
“Preparation should not focus only on political machinery but must also be strengthened through tarbiyah, knowledge and unity among party members,” he said in a statement today.
Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man added that the party’s struggle must continue to remain aligned with Islamic principles and values to ensure that any success achieved would carry meaningful purpose and legitimacy.
He said efforts to strengthen the party must continue consistently until PAS is truly deserving of victory and divine support.
The statement comes amid growing attention on opposition politics following recent developments involving the relationship between Parti Islam Se-Malaysia and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ahead of GE16.
Earlier, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang reportedly said the party was reviewing its political cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
According to him, all aspects of the relationship between the two parties are currently being reassessed based on past election experiences and the present political climate.
Abdul Hadi Awang stressed that PAS remains cautious and does not wish to make rushed decisions regarding future political cooperation.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the party’s patience has limits if mutual understanding cannot be achieved.
The latest developments have fuelled speculation regarding the future direction of cooperation within Perikatan Nasional ahead of GE16, which is expected to become a crucial contest in shaping Malaysia’s political landscape.
Political observers have previously viewed the relationship between PAS and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia as one of the key factors that could influence the opposition bloc’s strategy in the coming general election.
Although no official decision has been made regarding the coalition’s future, recent remarks by PAS leaders suggest the party is intensifying internal preparations involving organisation, leadership development and long-term political direction.
