MySinarKasih Offers RM80 Million Waqf Support, Helping 10,000 Malaysians Combine Protection and Purpose
PETALING JAYA — Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad (SLMT) has introduced MySinarKasih, a RM80 million waqf initiative designed to help 10,000 Muslim customers integrate financial protection with meaningful charitable contributions.
Targeting low- and middle-income groups, the programme provides each eligible participant with RM8,000 in waqf benefits, enabling them to safeguard their families while leaving behind a lasting legacy for the community.
Chief executive officer Azam Yusof said the initiative was launched in conjunction with National Waqf Month 2026, reflecting a broader effort to promote the relevance of waqf in modern financial planning.
Under the programme, the benefit will be channelled to Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (YWM) in the event of death within one year of the policy’s commencement.
Participants also have the option to convert the benefit into Badal Hajj services of equivalent value, offering flexibility in fulfilling religious obligations.
Azam noted that the initiative provides a dual advantage — protecting loved ones financially while contributing to causes that deliver long-term social impact.
“This approach reflects a balance between financial resilience and faith-based values, creating benefits that extend beyond the individual,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ridzwan Bakar, chief executive officer of Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia, said funds generated through MySinarKasih will be channelled into programmes under the 1H3E framework.
These initiatives cover key areas such as healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment, ensuring broad and lasting community impact.
He added that SLMT has been incorporating waqf features into its family takaful plans since 2017, reinforcing its commitment to socially responsible financial solutions.
To date, more than RM390,000 has been channelled to YWM through contributions from 1,973 customers who participated as waqf donors.
Overall, MySinarKasih represents a holistic financial solution that bridges personal protection with social good, reflecting a growing trend towards purpose-driven financial products.
