MyJPJ to Require MyDigital ID Login From May 1 in Push for Stronger Cybersecurity

PUTRAJAYA, April 30 — The Road Transport Department Malaysia will mandate the use of MyDigital ID as the sole login method for its MyJPJ mobile application starting May 1, marking a major step in the government’s digital transformation agenda.

Director-General Aedy Fadly Ramli said the transition to a Single Sign-On (SSO) system is designed to enhance cybersecurity while streamlining access to public services.

Single Digital Identity for Seamless Access

Under the new system, users will rely exclusively on MyDigital ID to authenticate access to the MyJPJ app, replacing multiple login credentials previously required.

The move is expected to reduce security vulnerabilities while providing a more consistent and efficient user experience across services.

Authorities say the adoption of a verified digital identity will strengthen protection against data breaches and unauthorised access, in line with broader efforts to modernise Malaysia’s public sector digital infrastructure.

MyJPJ as a Centralised Service Platform

The MyJPJ application serves as an integrated platform for a wide range of services, including driving licence renewal, vehicle road tax renewal, summons checks and other JPJ-related transactions.

With more than 14 million users to date, the app has become a key digital touchpoint for motorists nationwide.

New Features Enhance User Experience

The upcoming version of the app will introduce several upgrades alongside the MyDigital ID integration.

Among the additions are a guest mode that allows limited access without login, a 24-hour smart chatbot to assist users, and the consolidation of JPJeBid and JPJeQ services into a unified platform.

These enhancements are aimed at improving accessibility while maintaining security for sensitive transactions.

Call for Early Registration

JPJ is urging all users aged 12 and above to register and activate their MyDigital ID ahead of the implementation date to avoid disruptions in accessing services.

For MyPR holders, existing login methods will remain available through designated alternative channels.

Part of Broader Digitalisation Drive

The shift to a single sign-on system reflects ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen digital governance, improve service delivery efficiency and enhance public trust in online platforms.

By consolidating authentication under a secure digital identity framework, JPJ aims to simplify access while ensuring higher standards of data protection.
