SUNGAI PETANI, April 28 — A 43-year-old man has been arrested in Alor Setar in connection with an alleged assault on his pregnant wife that reportedly resulted in a miscarriage at 12 weeks.
Kedah police chief Adzli Abu Shah confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was picked up earlier today and will be brought before the Sungai Petani Magistrate’s Court for a remand application tomorrow.
Probe Under Grievous Hurt Provision
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which covers voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
Adzli said further details will be disclosed during a press conference scheduled at the Kedah police headquarters in Alor Setar.
Assault Allegedly Involved Multiple Objects
Initial reports indicated that the suspect allegedly attacked his wife at their residence in Ambangan Heights last Thursday using various items, including a clothes hanger, a rubber hose, a curtain rod and a broomstick.
Following the incident, he is also believed to have taken jewellery and cash estimated at RM50,000 before fleeing.

Police said the suspect is believed to be the same individual involved in a prior case in Johor about five years ago, where another wife was reportedly assaulted and left in a coma.
