Malaysia to Host Asian Youth Festival 2026, Strengthening Its Position as Regional Youth Hub

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is set to become a regional focal point for young people across Asia as the Asian Youth Festival 2026 (AYF 2026) takes place from July 10 to 12 at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC), reinforcing the country’s role as a leading destination for youth and cultural events.

The festival is officially supported by the Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya Malaysia (MOTAC) under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. Its official launch was held at Saloma Kuala Lumpur and officiated by Deputy Minister Chiew Choon Man.

Also present were VMY2026 Secretariat Head Mohd Akbal Setia, diplomatic representatives, local celebrities, and industry partners.

Chiew said AYF 2026 serves as a creative and inclusive platform driven by youth, contributing to tourism growth while positioning Malaysia as a vibrant cultural destination for young travellers in Asia.

Regional Youth Platform and Creative Ecosystem

AYF 2026 is organised by Explorers World Ventures Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Memories Entertainment Sdn Bhd, both of which have extensive experience in managing large-scale events.

Co-founder Chris Avinash said the festival provides a real-time platform for young people to showcase their influence, creativity, and leadership.

He emphasised that Asian youth should be recognised not merely as future leaders, but as active contributors shaping today’s society.

Meanwhile, co-founder Marina Abdullah highlighted the “Pop-In Malaysia” concept, designed to position the country as a preferred destination for connection, entertainment, and opportunity.

Diverse Attractions and Interactive Zones

The three-day festival will feature seven main zones, including music concerts, an e-sports arena for Mobile Legends, anime and cosplay areas, Fashion Street, Asian Food Village, Youth Talks, and pickleball championships.

Covering more than one million square feet, the venue is expected to host thousands of participants from across Asia, creating a vibrant and inclusive modern lifestyle ecosystem.

Organisers are also targeting active participation from creative communities, young entrepreneurs, digital content creators, and pop culture enthusiasts.

Boost to Tourism and National Branding

Industry observers view AYF 2026 as a strategic initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s tourism appeal, particularly among young travellers.

The influx of regional visitors is expected to generate spillover benefits for the hospitality, transport, food, and retail sectors in Kuala Lumpur.

More importantly, the festival is seen as a platform to enhance Malaysia’s international image as a progressive, youth-friendly, and culturally rich nation.

Overall, AYF 2026 represents more than just a youth festival. It symbolises Malaysia’s ambition to lead regional youth engagement, creativity, and innovation, supporting long-term cultural and economic development beyond 2026.
