Malaysia sweeps all four gold medals to clinch overall title at Seven Nations Lawn Bowls Invitational

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 — Malaysia’s lawn bowls team delivered a dominant performance to secure the overall title at the Seven Nations Lawn Bowls Invitational Tournament after winning all four gold medals on offer at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara.

The achievement marked a major success for the national squad, which had entered the competition with high expectations and a clear target of emerging as champions.

Despite facing strong opposition from international competitors, Malaysian players remained composed and determined, particularly in the finals where several matches were decided through tie-break situations.

In the men’s singles event, Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple showcased his quality by defeating former world number one Shannon McIlroy of New Zealand.

After losing the first set, Izzat made tactical adjustments and fought back to secure victory.

He said his earlier match against the same opponent during the group stage helped him better understand his rival’s playing style.

He added that the experience would be valuable preparation for future competitions such as the Commonwealth Games.

In the women’s singles event, Nor Farah Ain Abdullah also delivered an impressive performance by defeating India’s Nayanmoni Saikia to claim gold.

Farah said the victory was especially meaningful as she had to overcome early difficulties during the match.

She credited her success to improved strategy and determination.

The result marked an important comeback for the athlete following previous injury setbacks.

Malaysia’s dominance continued in the pairs events.

In the men’s pairs category, Naufal Azmi and Fadley Jabal secured gold after producing a strong performance in the final.

They said the tournament provided an important opportunity to strengthen their partnership.

In the women’s pairs event, Nur Syafira and Nurul Balqis also claimed gold to complete Malaysia’s clean sweep.

They said the victory would motivate them to continue improving their performance.
