‘I Have the Right to Earn an Honest Living,’ Says Yazmin Aziz After Responding to Online Criticism
KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Yazmin Aziz has spoken out against negative comments directed at her on social media, stressing that she has every right to earn an honest living while working hard to support her family and pursue her dreams.
The 24-year-old artist shared her thoughts in a post on Threads after receiving criticism from an online user who questioned her career and achievements.
Yazmin said she hoped people would remember that public figures are ordinary human beings with responsibilities, personal struggles and ambitions just like everyone else.
“I hope people see that I’m a human being too. I have responsibilities, I have a family that I want to help and I have dreams that I want to achieve.
“I also have the right to earn an honest and halal living. I just graduated from university and I’m still working hard every single day,” she wrote.
The singer said she believes that sustenance and success are determined by God and that everyone has their own journey and timing in life.
“I believe that our sustenance has already been arranged by Allah. Everyone has their own time,” she said.
Yazmin, who has steadily built a following through her music and online presence, revealed that she has been helping her family from a young age and that those experiences shaped her outlook on life.
According to her, growing up in modest circumstances taught her to appreciate hard work, remain grateful and value every opportunity that comes her way.
“I’ve been helping my family since I was young. That experience taught me gratitude, perseverance and how to appreciate every blessing.
“Until today, I still take care of my family the same way they took care of me throughout my life.
“We may not have much, but we are grateful for what we have,” she said.
Yazmin also used the opportunity to encourage people to celebrate the success of others instead of responding with jealousy or negativity.
She said society would benefit from creating a culture where people cheer for one another and offer support to those striving to improve their lives.
“Get used to applauding when other people succeed because that’s exactly what I do.
“And when it’s our turn to succeed, hopefully others will pray for good things for us too,” she wrote.
Her message resonated with many social media users, with numerous followers praising her maturity and positive attitude in dealing with criticism.
Many commenters said her response reflected resilience and humility, while others expressed admiration for her commitment to supporting her family despite the challenges she has faced.
The episode once again highlights the pressures faced by public figures in the age of social media, where opinions are often expressed instantly and sometimes harshly.
Despite the criticism, Yazmin appears determined to remain focused on her goals, choosing to respond with gratitude and optimism rather than anger.
For the singer, success is not simply about fame or recognition, but about working honestly, helping loved ones and trusting that every effort will eventually bear fruit at the right time.
