Federal Allocation for Kelantan Surges to RM8 Billion Under MADANI Agenda

KOTA BHARU, April 19 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has unveiled a major increase in federal development funding for Kelantan, raising the allocation to RM8 billion as part of a broader push to accelerate growth and uplift living standards in the state.

The announcement signals a sharp rise from previous allocations, underscoring the federal government’s intention to close development gaps and ensure more inclusive economic progress across Malaysia.

Anwar pointed out that Kelantan had already seen a substantial increase in funding in recent years. In 2023, the state received RM3.19 billion for development projects, nearly double the RM1.55 billion allocated in 2022. The latest jump to RM8 billion represents an even more aggressive commitment to infrastructure expansion and socio-economic improvement.

Addressing delegates at the Kelantan Keadilan Mini Convention 2026, the Prime Minister reiterated that development efforts must go hand in hand with strong governance. He stressed that the MADANI Government remains uncompromising in its fight against corruption and the misuse of public funds.

According to him, tighter controls and enforcement measures have allowed the government to save approximately RM15.5 billion over the past two years. These savings, he said, are being redirected into programmes and projects that deliver tangible benefits to the people.

Anwar made it clear that accountability applies to all levels of leadership, including within his own administration. He emphasised that no individual would be shielded if evidence of wrongdoing emerges, reinforcing the government’s stance on integrity and transparency.

Beyond financial allocations, the Prime Minister also highlighted ongoing initiatives to address youth employment challenges. He revealed that discussions have been held with government-linked companies to develop additional pathways for job creation, particularly targeting graduates and individuals trained in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

These efforts aim to better align workforce skills with industry demands, ensuring that young Malaysians are not left behind in an increasingly competitive economy.

Anwar also took the opportunity to praise Kelantan’s batik sector, describing it as among the most progressive in the country. He noted that the government’s policy encouraging civil servants to wear batik has significantly boosted the industry, benefiting local producers and strengthening cultural heritage.

The expanded allocation, coupled with governance reforms and economic initiatives, reflects the MADANI administration’s broader vision of equitable development, with Kelantan positioned to benefit from increased federal support in the years ahead.
