Diesel Price Drops 85 Sen, RON95 Down 12 Sen for Upcoming Week

PETALING JAYA: Fuel prices in Peninsular Malaysia will see a notable adjustment, with diesel recording a sharp decline of 85 sen per litre for the coming week, while RON95 petrol will also register a smaller reduction.

The Ministry of Finance announced that the price of diesel will fall from RM5.97 per litre to RM5.12 per litre for the period between April 23 and April 29, 2026. This marks one of the more significant weekly adjustments in recent months, offering some relief to consumers and businesses reliant on diesel.

The price revision forms part of Malaysia’s weekly fuel pricing mechanism, which reflects global oil price movements and currency fluctuations. Diesel, in particular, has been subject to notable volatility in recent weeks due to changes in international energy markets.

Alongside diesel, the price of RON95 petrol will also be reduced by 12 sen per litre during the same period. Although the decrease is comparatively smaller, it still provides modest cost savings for motorists across the country.

The downward adjustment is expected to ease operational costs for logistics operators, transport companies and industries that rely heavily on diesel-powered machinery and vehicles. Lower diesel prices typically have a broader economic impact, as they influence supply chain expenses and distribution costs.

For individual consumers, especially those using diesel vehicles, the reduction translates into more affordable daily commuting and travel expenses. Meanwhile, the RON95 price cut, though less pronounced, contributes to overall fuel cost relief for the general public.

Analysts note that fuel price changes are closely tied to global crude oil trends, geopolitical developments and regional supply-demand dynamics. Any easing in international oil prices often leads to downward adjustments at the domestic level, as reflected in this week’s revision.

The government has maintained that the weekly pricing system ensures transparency and allows fuel prices to remain responsive to market conditions, while also balancing fiscal considerations.

Consumers are advised to monitor official announcements regularly, as fuel prices may continue to fluctuate depending on global energy market developments.
