Fahmi: MADANI Government Delivers Long-Delayed Reforms, Resolves Key Development and Welfare Issues
SEGAMAT, April 19 — The MADANI Government has made significant progress in addressing long-standing development challenges and improving public welfare, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said, pointing to a series of policy decisions and project revivals as evidence of the administration’s effectiveness.
Speaking at the Program Jiwa MADANI in Segamat, Fahmi said the current government has managed to resolve issues that had remained pending for years, including infrastructure development delays and welfare concerns affecting civil servants.
Among the most notable achievements, he said, is the salary adjustment for public sector employees — the first revision since 2013 — as well as the long-awaited review of judicial remuneration.
“These are not minor changes. They are structural adjustments that have been overdue for years,” he said, adding that such measures reflect the government’s commitment to addressing systemic issues rather than short-term concerns.
Fahmi also highlighted the government’s efforts to restore funding to religious education institutions, including tahfiz centres and religious schools, which had previously faced funding constraints.
Beyond welfare measures, he pointed to tangible progress in development projects across several states, including the revival of initiatives that had been stalled under previous administrations.
In Terengganu, he noted, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had fulfilled a long-delayed commitment by initiating the groundwork for the state’s first metropolitan college — a project that had remained unresolved for 17 years.
Similarly, in Johor, the government has moved to reactivate the Forest City development, which had previously faced uncertainties and delays.
Fahmi said such actions demonstrate the administration’s ability to unlock projects that had stalled due to policy or coordination issues.
He also cited the establishment of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone as a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening cross-border economic ties and attracting investment.
In addition, major infrastructure developments such as the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System have progressed under the current administration, further enhancing regional connectivity.
According to Fahmi, these developments are not isolated achievements, but part of a broader effort to address longstanding gaps in governance and development.
He stressed that the government’s approach is rooted in cooperation between federal and state authorities, which he described as a key factor in ensuring effective implementation of policies and projects.
“This is not about claiming credit. It is about showing that when there is strong coordination between different levels of government, issues that affect the rakyat can be resolved more effectively,” he said.
As the government continues to implement its policies, Fahmi expressed confidence that such collaborative efforts will deliver sustained benefits, particularly in terms of economic growth, infrastructure development and public welfare.
He added that the administration remains focused on ensuring that development initiatives are inclusive and reach all segments of society.
