MOH Assures Government Healthcare Services Will Continue Despite Additional Aidilfitri Holiday
PUTRAJAYA – The Ministry of Health Malaysia has assured the public that healthcare services at government hospitals and medical facilities will continue to operate normally despite the announcement of an additional public holiday for Aidilfitri.
Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said patients with appointments at specialist clinics or day treatment centres that fall on the public holiday will be contacted by hospitals and given new appointment dates.
He explained that the measure is intended to ensure that patient treatments and examinations can proceed smoothly without disrupting the healthcare system.
Hospitals and Clinics to Operate as Usual
Dzulkefly said the operations of government hospitals and clinics nationwide will remain unaffected during the festive holiday period.
Healthcare personnel who are already scheduled to be on call will continue reporting for duty at hospitals to provide essential medical services.
“Healthcare staff who have already been scheduled for on-call duties will remain at hospitals to serve patients,” he said.
Public Health Monitoring Continues
He also noted that monitoring of public health conditions will continue to be carried out by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) at both the state and national levels.
The monitoring efforts aim to ensure that any situation with potential public health implications can be addressed promptly.
Dzulkefly spoke to reporters after attending the Kembara Beraya programme with Cik Era held at IOI City Mall.
The statement followed the announcement by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of an additional public holiday in conjunction with this year’s Aidilfitri celebrations.
