Hamzah Questions Bersatu’s Direction, Claims Protem Committees Linked to PKR

LARUT – Larut MP Hamzah Zainudin has raised concerns over the current direction of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, claiming that many of the party’s protem division committees now include individuals linked to Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

He said the information was relayed to him by party members across the country who observed the development following the dissolution of several Bersatu divisions earlier.

According to Hamzah, the situation raises questions about the party’s future direction as it appears to indicate a tendency to move closer to the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

“That is what has been conveyed to me. Many friends across the country say that the majority of those in the protem committees come from PKR,” he told reporters.

He was speaking during the Iftar Session and Reset briefing event held in Selama.

Raises Questions Over His Dismissal

Hamzah also touched on his earlier removal as Bersatu deputy president, which he said was due to alleged disciplinary violations.

He questioned the action taken against him, noting that some individuals are now openly inclined to cooperate with leaders from Pakatan Harapan.

“If I was removed for meeting UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, what about those who openly wish to work with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim?” he said.

Political Developments Prompt New Direction

Hamzah said several developments within Bersatu no longer align with what he believes to be the party’s original principles.

He added that these circumstances partly influenced his decision, along with several political allies, to adopt a different political approach moving forward.

According to him, the evolving political landscape requires leaders to make decisions that ensure their struggles remain relevant and continue to gain public support.
