Perikatan Nasional Reshuffles Leadership, Takiyuddin Hassan Named New Secretary-General
KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced a significant reshuffle of its top leadership positions, appointing Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan as the coalition’s new secretary-general, effective immediately.
The decision was made during a PN Supreme Council meeting held in Kuala Lumpur today as part of a broader effort to reorganise and strengthen the coalition’s leadership structure.
Takiyuddin, who also serves as PAS secretary-general, replaces Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who previously resigned from the role in January.
Following the reshuffle, Azmin has been appointed as Deputy Secretary-General of PN.
The leadership overhaul also included several other key appointments within the coalition.
Former federal minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa has been named as PN’s new information chief. He previously served as deputy director of the PAS Central Election Directorate.
The meeting also introduced adjustments to the coalition’s senior leadership lineup.
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has been appointed as one of PN’s deputy chairmen, replacing Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang in that position.
With the appointment, Tuan Ibrahim joins three other deputy chairmen representing PN’s component parties.
They include Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau, and Parti Rakyat India Malaysia (MIPP) president P Punithan.
In another key change, Bersatu vice-president Datuk Radzi Jidin has been appointed as PN’s new election director.
He replaces Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who has now been moved to the position of treasurer-general within the coalition.
The reshuffle also affected the coalition’s Women’s Affairs leadership.
The role is now held by Acting Bersatu Srikandi Chief Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, replacing Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
Mas Ermieyati is currently serving a six-year suspension from Bersatu, equivalent to two terms, for violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct.
PN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who chaired the Supreme Council meeting, said the appointments were made in accordance with Clauses 8.2 and 8.3 of the coalition’s constitution.
He explained that the reshuffle was intended to strengthen the coalition’s organisational structure and prepare it for upcoming political challenges.
Ahmad Samsuri also announced that appointments for state liaison committee chairmen have been postponed.
He said the matter would be finalised after he completes working visits to all states following the Aidilfitri celebrations.
The leadership changes are seen as part of PN’s efforts to consolidate its structure and enhance coordination among its component parties ahead of future political developments.
