Three-year study confirms TREMFYA delivers sustained remission for ulcerative colitis patients
STOCKHOLM: Johnson & Johnson has released new long-term findings showing that TREMFYA® (guselkumab) provides durable disease control for adults with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis for up to three years.
The data were obtained from the QUASAR long-term extension study and presented at the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) 2026 conference.
Strong remission rates maintained over time
The study found that 80.8 percent of patients receiving TREMFYA remained in clinical remission at Week 140.
Additionally, 53.6 percent achieved endoscopic remission, while 78.6 percent experienced intestinal healing at both microscopic and visible levels.
Many patients who achieved remission were able to remain steroid-free.
Long-term effectiveness with no new safety issues
Researchers reported that approximately 89 percent of participants completed treatment throughout the study period.
Patients who reached remission earlier maintained their results long term.
No new safety concerns were identified.
Long-term treatment options critical for chronic disease
Experts said ulcerative colitis is a lifelong condition requiring sustained treatment.
Effective long-term therapies can help patients manage symptoms and reduce complications.
Targeted therapy offers promising outcomes
TREMFYA is a monoclonal antibody designed to block immune pathways linked to inflammation.
It has received regulatory approval in the United States and Europe for inflammatory bowel disease treatment.
The findings reinforce confidence in its long-term therapeutic potential.
