Twelve Police Personnel Detained Over Missing Cryptocurrency Case in Kajang

SHAH ALAM — Twelve police personnel have been detained to assist in investigations into the disappearance of cryptocurrency belonging to a foreign national in the Kajang district earlier this month.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the police received a report regarding the incident at 2.06pm on February 6.

He said immediate action was taken after the report was lodged, including detaining the 12 police personnel to facilitate investigations.

“Following the report, swift action was taken, and 12 police personnel were detained to assist in the investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, and investigations are ongoing,” he said in a statement today.

The sections relate to robbery and armed robbery offences, which are considered serious crimes under Malaysian law.

Shazeli said the police would not tolerate any officer or personnel found to be involved in criminal activities.

He stressed that strict action would be taken if any wrongdoing is established.

He said maintaining the integrity of the police force remains a priority.

At the same time, he urged the public to allow the police to carry out their investigation without interference.

He also advised against speculation that could disrupt the investigation process.

He said spreading unverified information could affect the investigation and legal proceedings.

The missing cryptocurrency case remains under investigation, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.

The case has drawn public attention due to its involvement of law enforcement personnel and digital assets.

Police have assured that the investigation will be conducted professionally and transparently.
